Atul Kattukaran
Atul Kattukaran is a Partner and Director at 1st December Films, and one of India's most celebrated advertising filmmakers. A recipient of the Cannes Lions, often regarded as the Oscars of advertising, he has won in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2026, and is the only Indian officially listed among the world's Top 10 TVC directors by the Cannes Lions Global Creativity Report.
His breakout was Nike 'Make Every Yard Count' (2014), a four-month stop-motion odyssey featuring 1,440 young cricketers across 2,25,000 photographs, which became the most awarded film in advertising history from Asia. He then directed 'Beauty Tips by Reshma' for Ogilvy and Make Love Not Scars, winner of the Cannes Glass Lion and Gold Lion, whose 'How to Get Perfect Red Lips' made Adweek's World's Best Commercials of 2016.
His work has been honoured at leading international award shows including D&AD, CLIO, The One Show, Spikes Asia and Promax, as well as India's premier advertising festivals such as Kyoorius and Goafest. Over the years he has directed campaigns for Nike, Google, Google Android, Google Pixel, Netflix × Knorr, Levi's, KFC, Peter England, Thums Up, Oppo, Vivo, Star Sports, MuscleBlaze, Pepe Jeans, Facebook, Myntra and Unacademy, alongside the T20 World Cup 2026 campaign and the ZEE5 × FIFA promo.
Most recently he received an Abby Gold for the 'Chora Chori' campaign, Blue Elephants at the Kyoorius Awards, and a Bronze at the Good Ads Matter Awards for the Vivo X300 Pro campaign in the Artificial Intelligence, AI-Integrated Live Action Film category.
